New pope fails litmus test

So if my kid wants to get married in your back yard, we get to force you to let us use your property?

If he signed a tax-exempt agreement with the state to open his yard for public use, then yes.

This is not a gay rights case, it's a case about violating an agreement the church made in exchange for tax-exempt status.

This is the point I am making.  Thanks for helping to make it.  A church, by its own good grace, opens part of its property to be enjoyed by the public, and the LGBT community takes every opportunity to force its will upon the church.

How can you claim gays forced their will on the church when the church denied the gay couple the opportunity to marry there?  The church got what it wanted, the gay couple did not.

According to the articles and the court documents, this was a discrimination case filed by the lesbian couple against the church. Where is this agreement of public access you are talking about?

A small minority of perverts are forcing their will on the majority.

If they want to cohabit they can.

But they insist on interfering in the sacred sacrement of marriage.

How are they interfering in the sacred sacrament of marriage?

If this passes will you marry me? I'll have to state out front that I'm a top. And I'm rough.

We do tend to excel (eventually) when it comes to civil rights.

Yes, the church got a tax-exempt status for that pert of their property in return for making it public accessible.  They then denied certain members of the public access based on their sexuality.  They violated their agreement and lost the tax-exempt status.

"In his written decision, Judge Solomon A. Metzger of the Office of Administrative Law found that in March 2007, when Paster and Bernstein filled out a reservation form, the pavilion was a public accommodation. The judge determined that the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association breached its agreement to make the pavilion available to the public on an equal basis. The association was also required to make the pavilion public in exchange for a state tax exemption it received that requires equal access on a non-discriminatory basis."

Better check your number on who is the majority and who is the minority.

What percentage of Americans think gay marriage should be legal?

Did you ever think that it's not just gays that want to see gay marriage legalized?  Some of us are people who think all that stuff about "all men are created equal" is true.

My point about churches being forced.

It had nothing to do with an agreement the church signed and everything to do with the state's anti-discrimination laws.

We do tend to excel (eventually) when it comes to civil rights.

Except when it comes to the civil rights of churches. Their beliefs be damned because we now have a special class of citizen who's rights are more important.

Are you saying the church was forced against their will to sign an agreement to get tax-exempt status for some land they own?  Really?

My guess is they are a typical non-profit organization looking for ways to improve things for the last amount of cost.

I will agree, they can't have it both ways. They can't claim religious status of the property and then get tax payer dollars.

Then again, neither can the government.

The organization has been denied clean up funds from the last hurricane because they are a non-profit religious organization.

What the gay couple wants is to have their perverted lifestyle be accepted as normal by force.

It wasn't that long ago that the "LGBT" community said that all they wanted was the same rights as married couples,( we know that is bullshit now) it was disingenuous at the time and here we are just a few years later and it a " human rights " issue. Utter bullshit. It is nothing more than forcing their perverted lifestyle on society and decreeing the same as real marriage ( a custom going back to the beginning of civilization) it isn't and will never be but if you don't " embrace it " your a bigot. The next step is accepting pedophiles as " normal " the ground work is being laid ( pardon the pun ) by academics who want to move away from the term " pedophile " since it has a judgmental connotation. So you're afraid they're going to force you, and make you like it?

Uh oh.

Sounds like somebody might learn something from the Viagra Gay Porn Challenge.

What is it with liberals?  Disagree with them and they tell you to get out of America.  Isn't that attitude the opposite of "liberal" and about as un-American as it gets?
