I made a mistake last Sunday.Sorry if that caused you to spit out your coffee. Some of you might say that I made more than one, so let's just say that one stands out above the others. That mistake would be printing the name of the school previously attended by two of the Gosselin children of "Jon a...

SAY WHAT? Marv is nuttier than a fruitcake! We will never, ever say the name Lancaster Country Day School again! And no one knew the name of the two children - they've just been on TV for years! Someone take Marv to the funny farm, please! :P

Gone and forgotten

Good Lord, every entertainment website cites LCDS when it comes to the two Gosselin kids getting booted from kindergarten. Adams has many more important things he espouses that he should be apologizing for. Guess the headmaster must have given him a call or one of his Ham Club cronies complained that his kid's school was outed.

And gee golly gee whiz, just saw that a new episode of the Hate plus 8 saga is coming up. Gotta make some news to use the kiddies to keep that weave up on her head.

Or maybe the complainers who got Marv's goat just live in that rarified air where shit doesn't stink and they are utterly clueless about how LCDS's name is out there all over the place on the web when it comes to the Gosselin kids.

And all of that aside, isn't commuting from their home to LCDS quite a lengthy trip? Guess it gives more time for Hate to perfect her stroll.

Excellent post, Gone! My thinking exactly. And while I had fun with it earlier, this is now really starting to make me mad! You're right - Steven D. Lister must have called and complained. Wasn't the lead story this week in the daily paper about a subsitute being "banned" from Manheim Township School District? What makes this story any different? Why would LNP and Marv protect Lancaster Country Day? Because they are private? Nonsense. This just demonstrates exactly how LNP protects the wealthy and entitled in this county.

I think the issue, from Marv's point of view, is that he violated an LNP policy against identifying juvenile wrongdoers. They didn't go to juvenile court, in this case, but if you hit someone else, that's battery. By identifying the school, it pretty well identifies which of the kids you're talking about. On the other hand, the age of the "offenders" is important to put the issue into context, and if you give that information and the family name, you've identified the kids. If Marv was thinking clearly, he'd realize that you can't run the story without identifying the kids.

Jon is right. All this publicity hurts the kids. Nothing new about this, of course; the Dionne kids were exploited mercilessly, too. But just as a decent family newspaper doesn't run porn, even though readily available online and on TV, they ought to decline to run stories about kids who are being exploited by their mothers.

Harl, the difference is, is that these kids are 'public figures.' Why? Because their mother has made them thus. LCDS probably 'deep discounts' their tuition in total (you didn't hear that from me of course) and so they certainly will be held to the same or higher behavior standards. They aren't 'old Lancaster' nor are they a potential feather in LCDS's cap for legacy or endowment promises. They are essentially 'one strike you're out' students. LCDS doesn't have to tolerate them for zero gain. And I imagine parents there paying full pop aren't crying in their martinis at the aspect of their expulsion. Despite their age, they are public personalities and I believe that the standards for public disclosure don't apply here.

And of course, we'll be seeing 'a very special episode' of Hate Plus 8 in the near future. As soon as Hate takes care of getting her weave tightened.

You've got a point. If a kid is charged with a crime as an adult, LNP feels free to identify the kid, because it's a matter of public record.

It still leaves a bad taste in my mouth, though.

Parents don't own their kids, and they aren't free to abuse them. The community needs to step in and rescue those kids from Kate.

I absolutely agree with you on all the points that you make here.

I don't like it that Hate is allowed to use the name "Kate" publicly. It impugnes my wife's name, and she doesn't have a "weave". Dastardly.
