Our pre-existing condition coverage is on the line

Your health care coverage is on the line this November.

The GOP-led lawsuit Texas v. United States, supported by President Donald Trump’s Department of Justice, is seeking to invalidate the Affordable Care Act’s requirement that ensures coverage for pre-existing conditions and prohibits insurers from charging more for such coverage.

To be clear, this case on the surface is just about the “individual mandate,” but the GOP’s lawyers are arguing that striking down the mandate in effect invalidates all of the ACA — including coverage for pre-existing conditions.

In short, the GOP is coming for your health care.

The sicker you are, the less likely you can perform the kind of work that provides health insurance. Even if you have coverage through work now, loss of your job would subject you to exorbitant premiums if you have or anyone in your family has pre-existing conditions.

Congressman Lloyd Smucker voted to repeal the ACA when he had the chance in 2017. When Republican representatives offered House Resolution 1066 in September 2018 to preserve pre-existing condition coverage, Smucker was not a co-signer.

If the GOP prevails in Texas v. United States, the newly confirmed conservative Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh may well rule to overturn the ACA. Thereafter, only Congress can redress the damage. Reclaiming Congress to act in your best interests begins Nov. 6. That is why I support Jess King for Congress.

Nick,

Don't know where you got your information on termination of pre-existing conditions - but they are a liar.

No, Nick is spot on.

If you look outside of your bubble you would know this.

Texas was filed by 20 Republican state attorneys general and governors as well as two individuals. Plaintiffs challenge the constitutionality of the individual mandate now that the penalty for failing to have health insurance will be $0 beginning in 2019. They argue that the individual mandate cannot be severed from the rest of the ACA; thus, if the mandate falls, so too should the rest of the law (including non-insurance-related provisions such as closing the Medicare drug donut hole, creation of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation, and restaurant menu labeling).

If they eliminate the entire ACA, that is what happens

Eliminating pre existing conditions is political suicide, and the Republicans certainly know this.

Their tactic, if you do not already know this, is the republicans killed the individual mandate which means everybody doesn't have to sign up for insurance. The result of that it could/probably will drive up insurance rates for everybody. Pre-existing condition  medical insurance will cost $50,000.00+ per year for coverage.

Still waiting for this awesome repeal and replace trumpcare (better coverage, cheaper).

P.S. Where is the big scary caravan filled with diseased ISIS terrorists at now?

A precursor to the invasion is already arriving at our borders.  Within the last two weeks 10,000 people crossed  into the United States applying for benefits.

The caravan is near the Mexican city of Irapuato.

Dude.  Arrests are down means they criminals are using other entry points.

Just like those idiots saying/believing that most of the drugs come into America through ports.  An asinine statement.  No one, except the cartel has any idea how much drugs are coming into America.  On a given day on the PA turnpike troopers may stop 80 vehicles for speeding.  To say that 80 people are speeding on the PA turnpike is an asinine statement.

The New Plot Against Obamacare

Will specious, bad-faith legal arguments prevail?

"Over all, around 20 million Americans who wouldn’t have had health insurance without the ACA now do...iIf you’re an American who suffers from a pre-existing condition, or doesn’t have a job that comes with health benefits, you should know that if Trump is re-elected, he will, one way or another, take away your health insurance."

15,000 Americans Died So Republican Governors Could Stick It to Obama

"On June 28, 2012, the day that the Supreme Court upheld most of the Affordable Care Act, the sighs of relief were so loud that they drowned out one part of the Court's decision that has come to haunt the lives of millions of poor people around the country, and that also has come to represent the fanatical refusal of Republican politicians, specifically Republican governors, to associate themselves with anything that had anything to do with President Barack Obama. In his opinion upholding the ACA, Roberts allowed individual governors to refuse to accept the Medicaid expansion in their states. In other words, just because it came from an Democratic president—and because it came from that Democratic president—these governors violated one of the fundamental tenets of state government that date back to the dawn of human greed: they refused FREE MONEY!"

Right now the focus is on Baltimore, but red state rural areas are no picnic.  Sucks when you've shot yourself in the foot and the closest ER is an hour drive away.  Maybe it's Darwinism at work.

Hear that kiddies?  Vote Republican and maybe you or family members will lose health care coverage or end up paying much more for it.  Republicans never had something to replace Obamacare but I bet insurance company lobbyists do.
