Why?  A responsible leader could have (1) not thrown the pandemic manual in the trash (2) not gutted the pandemic response team (3) not fired the forward virus watchdog in China (4) responded quickly to the intelligence coming out of China and set in motion a quick response team (5) assigned an experienced and professional team of healthcare officials to prepare and gather resources and put together test kits (6) Declared a health emergency and put someone like Fauci in charge of keeping everyone informed and provide advice.

We already know what happened, how he downplayed it and how it was allowed to get out of control.  The economy tanked and 40 million were out of work as a direct result of the too little, too late actions.  And he still is refusing to properly deal with it, believing that things are just rosy and he's doing a fantastic job.

If you had your way we'd have shut down sooner and opened up slower.  How would that have been better for black unemployment?

If the preparedness hadn't been ditched and if the intelligence had been heeded back at the end of last year, it's quite possible that the virus could have been limited to as little as 10% of the cases that we had by the middle of March.  And if there was a serious effort to ramp up testing as well as tracing, there wouldn't have been a shutdown and everybody would have still been enjoying their full workweek for low wages.

Why?  It has steadily fallen under Trump and shot up as a result of covid.

Based on FV's chart Obama dropped black unemployment from 18.1% (Feb 10) to 7.2%. tRUMP 7.2% to 5.1% (Oct 19). Winnah winnah chicken dinnah goes to Obama!

Why? because the country is shut down. Looking at unemployment rates for the 1st 1/2 of 2020 is absolutely unfair. You can make all kinds of predictions about what would have happened if ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,whatever, or whomever would done it sooner. Everybody, I mean everybody is armchair quarterbacking Trump on this. Here is pushing the 4th of July and now that we have more facts it's really easy to see what shoulda been done. Back in November not nearly as much was known, wasn't even clear that it had left China yet. I'm certainly not a Trump fan, but I can see really only a two week period that I think he should have pulled the trigger quicker. yeah I know, here comes all kinds of predictions and assertions that that two weeks killed 700,000,000 billion people, warmed the north pole up to 76 degrees and destroyed all hope of anyone ever living past 12. The earth is off it's axis and the Pope is converting to Islam, and Ice cream is now illegal because it has too many bones in it. Christ in a sidecar people get a grip.

Do you think he did a fine job?  That's what he's selling.  And what people like you are selling is that he's responsible for the low unemployment rate for blacks.  It became better because the economy was following a trajectory established by Obama.  Had Obama still been president, it would have been the same.  But the virus became the test of leadership and Trump horribly failed, which resulted in a crashed economy and huge increase in unemployment.  It's partly because of unpreparedness, partly because of science denialism, partly because of total inexperience, and partly because of not thinking beyond self-interest.  A whole different scenario was possible, as evidenced by other countries that took the correct measures of control.  Italy, as bad as it was, is in much better shape now than we are and they should have served as a heads up to us at the very least.  But Trump ignored that.  He still is and many states are no better off now than they were months ago.

Many of these workers who were laid off because of the pandemic won't have jobs to go back to because the businesses they worked at aren't going to come back because they couldn't sustain through the down time.  Eventually the vacuum will be filled when things normalize, who knows how long down the road.  But many workers will be having to start over, square one in seniority, if they're lucky enough to land another job.  Top that off with Republicans trying to yank healthcare insurance out from many at the same time.  Whoo hoo, everything's coming up roses.

did you read my post? not what I said.

It's not just two weeks from November.  If it had been two weeks earlier in March that concise, responsible action had been taken it could have been a whole lot better (according to the experts).  But he downplayed and frittered away the chance.  So that's why so many are blaming Trump for the situation we're in now.  And really, what's he doing right now to address this continuing epidemic in our country?  He's holding rallies.  He's not wearing a mask and not telling people to wear them either.  He wasted resources and time on his miracle drug and duped some fools into ingesting disinfectant.  I don't see how anyone who is at least half way informed can't see the degree of ineptitude.

not true. Trump is an idiot for sure but he never suggested anyone do that.

They listened to him telling that CDC official that they should look into blowing sunshine up people's asses and see if there's a way to use disinfectant to kill the virus in the lungs.  And so the not so smart thought it might be a good idea.  It's something called influence.

people that went that route are why warning labels exist, there is something called common sense as well.

Common sense should guide people away from listening to anything Trump says.

You would think that Trump University "graduates" would hear that call. What better way to get usage out of something otherwise useless...
